Who Are the Heroes of Your Journey?

By June 9, 2026 No Comments

I was thinking about some of the men in my life who have meant so much to me. Some were foundational, some came along to create positive change, and others served as models of humanity.

I think of my father, who was obviously foundational but also a model for hard work and what it meant to just keep going.

I think of my first employer, Al Roth. He was the first adult to treat me like a person (at age 13). He taught me about serving others, humor, dedication to perfection, and love of family.

I think of my mentor, Art Hodes. He brought me into the world of financial services and demonstrated his love and care for others. He was steadfastly dedicated to protecting families. He was selfless, kind, and moral.

I think about my partner, Jeremy Levinn. He was young, smart, and looked at life through a slightly cynical eye. He pushed and challenged me to change and improve, but always respectfully and lovingly.

I think about my son, Mitch. He is a patient, present, and loving father and husband. In many ways, I think he is far more patient and present than I ever was. Through his actions, he reminds me to slow down and be more present myself.

Who are your heroes? How did they make a difference in your life?
