Question, Asked and Answered

I write this with a degree of trepidation, as well as a wry smile. As you might recall, I asked whether we should keep our monthly Zoom get-togethers for men only, open them up to women, or invite couples. I can’t say the responses were surprising, except for perhaps one.

The results were as follows:

  • Stay the same: Men need a space where they can be comfortable.
  • Open it up to women: No reason to keep women out.
  • Invite couples: Adds a new dimension to the discussion.

In other words, there was no clear, decisive majority!

So, being Solomon-like and trying to add a little wisdom, I propose a varied schedule where one month will be men only, one month will include women, and one month will be open to couples. We’ll try this approach, see how it works out, and adjust from there. We’ll start in September.

I’m also going to set a calendar so you’ll know in advance, one quarter at a time, when we’ll meet.

My decision is sure to raise a few hackles (if there are any hecklers in the audience) for some and bring a smile to others. Nothing is etched in stone. I hope this strategy is met with a positive reaction. If not, we’ll pivot, learn together, and adjust as we go.
