Habits are our tendencies or routines that we adapt and that become ingrained and unconscious.
You have or had a routine that supported you all of your work life, from getting up in the morning to your bedtime ritual.
In Chapter X, the changes in routine are disruptive and uncomfortable. If you’re used to checking your calendar each morning to set yourself for the day, the screen is now blank. YIKES!
So, what do you need to do?
Change your habits, of course.
But make changes small and controlled. Making too many changes is likely to be overwhelming.
Here’s a suggestion:
Choose the habit you wish to change. Make it specific and envision the new habit you wish to install.
Make sure you know WHY this is important.
Set reasonable expectations. New habits don’t take hold overnight.
Ask for support from family or friends.
Celebrate each success. Notice that you’re making progress.
Don’t beat yourself up for slips—you’re human.
Your willingness to mindfully make changes will grease the wheels of progress in your effort to grow into your new life.
