Chapter X represents a huge change in life. It is a complete shift from everything you’ve trained for and worked for from even before the onset of adulthood.
Now here you are, decades later, habits ingrained in your brain and muscle memory. The cessation from your “normal” routine can be overwhelming.
My best advice to you, besides beginning the planning process early, is to create tiny shifts in behavior and habits. Prove to yourself that you are capable of doing something different.
A person new to running doesn’t start with a 26.5 mile run.
Someone trying to lose weight doesn’t (if they’re smart) stop eating food.
If you want to learn to play piano, you don’t start with Rachmaninoff.
Tiny changes….
Small shifts….
Little victories….
I’d love to hear about your experiences with making small changes.
