What matters…and why

I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching during this time of COVID-19 with the protests for social justice and the relevance of Chapter X.

Our country—the richest on earth—was and is ill equipped to handle a global pandemic. Our world is chock-full of people whose fear, grievances and greed rule actions that are antithetical to peace, prosperity and safety for our children and grandchildren.

So then what is Chapter X all about and why does it matter?

Is it a forum for men who are left wondering what to do with their remaining time on the planet?

Is it about helping those who’ve enjoyed a financially successful life enjoy a financially comfortable end?

Is it about preparing the way to encourage, induce and instill a feeling of purpose and meaning to leave this world better?

My answer to all of the above is a resounding YES. It is intended to be all those things and more.

Let’s examine some facts:

The gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” has widened.

The gap between the well educated and those who have not had that benefit has grown.

The gap between those with opportunity (I mean equal opportunity) has gone from gap to chasm.

These situations are not sustainable and can only lead to the destruction of society.

So then, what is the purpose of creating a meaningful last chapter, if it doesn’t include a vision for a better world for those who will be here to experience it?

That being said, it is important to me (and I hope to you) that we include in our journey actions that will help those we leave behind.

How can we make a difference?  Let’s share ideas!
