“To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die—to sleep,
No more; and by a sleep to say we end”
It’s hard to argue with Shakespeare. As I read this oft-quoted speech from Hamlet, I think about the big questions:
Do I rise to the challenges put before me?
Do I move courageously toward death, without focusing on fear, but on adding more to life and those I leave behind?
Can I be with the problems, illness, aging and deaths with a level of grace and rectitude?
Can I stay focused on the legacy I wish to leave behind?
Can I “be” with the pain, the challenge and the obstacles?
It’s a choice, no? To be or not to be….
