We grew up with lots of beliefs.
Some we’ve ejected along the way…do you remember “knowing” that girls were awful?
Ok, so that was a first-grade thing. Needless to say, that belief of mine changed fast with the surge of testosterone.
Some beliefs we hold on to out of habit. For example, our generation grew up drinking soda. Maybe it was Coke or Pepsi—or 7Up or Dr. Pepper. Gulping down cans, bottles, or cups full of soda was just part of our culture.
Maybe you still do. We know that soda is not good for our health and diet soda might even be worse. But we hold on to our past habits. Have you examined the things you do from habit and how they’re serving you?
If you haven’t, it’s time. Try this:
- Make a list of things you do habitually.
- Add 3 columns to the right and label them: POSITIVE – NEGATIVE -NEUTRAL.
- Score your habits accordingly.
Consider whether changes are appropriate, necessary, and indeed, important. Let me know what you discover.
