The Danger of Bubbles

By April 3, 2021 No Comments

I admit it, I live in a bubble. My neighborhood is safe and clean, friendly, and well-maintained. I am very lucky.

This morning on the way to the office, I saw police cones creating a new lane with signs for “Food Distribution”. While the news is rife with stories of long lines of people who suffer food insecurity, seeing it hit me like a lightning bolt.

It reminded me of the dangers of living in a bubble of security. Likewise, it reminded me to see where I might be part of the solution, besides practicing gratitude.

Needless to say, there are food banks in dire need of dollars and strong backs to help provide those less fortunate. It’s too easy to forget when you’re living in a bubble.

Rather than provide a link to my local community food bank, I ask each of you to find one local to you and help out in any way you can. Practicing gratitude also means acting beyond just feeling.

Together, we can make a difference.
