The word is out—there is an end in sight! This past year has seen over 550,000 deaths and unaccountable suffering. I cannot even begin to know the pain that so many front-line workers experienced, the excruciating suffering of those who lost loved ones, or those who lost jobs and security.
It is an unimaginable nightmare for so many.
Many are thinking about how they will get back to normal. Travel, parties, concerts, sporting events, and other group-oriented activities. Why not? It’s been a long cold winter that’s lasted for over a year (but felt like forever).
There’s another feeling besides the urgency to return to normal. And that’s gratitude for coming through this experience with my health, my family intact and healthy.
While some of us were privileged enough to come through relatively unscathed, the lives of some have been decimated and that, for me, needs to be a focus going forward. Whether it’s addressing food insecurity, education, unemployment, social justice, or other areas that are glaring needs in our world.
Using our wisdom, resources, time, and care to make the world better is the responsibility of those who can.
