Even if you didn’t grow up playing sports, competition was an instinct ingrained in us from a very early age. Whether you were trying out for an athletic team, auditioning for a play or the regional orchestra, or trying to “earn” your way into the in-crowd….competition was at work within us and continued into which college we attended, what job we took on and how we progressed in our occupations.
We compare ourselves with others, whether consciously or not. The better job, better house, better car, cooler vacation…everyone wants to be the lead dog, not the bunch of hounds following.
In Chapter X, what are we competing for? How do we tame our inner “beast” and live without that inner thrum of competition?
It’s a challenge.
How are you handling it? What are you noticing?
