Now that I am a few weeks into my next chapter, I’ve been playing with how I think about the “what, when and how” of my day. Here are my thoughts:
- Work: I’ve estimated my work time to be approximately six or seven hours per week, which includes client meetings, emails and phone calls.
- Exercise: Right now, I’m working with a trainer once a week (for an hour). I use the CAROL bike, which is an AI-designed exercise that can be as short as nine minutes. I do that three times per week and then add in another biking session through the Peloton app—or a “free ride” on the CAROL app for another fifteen to thirty minutes. In addition, I have adjustable dumbbells and other equipment that I use once a week for thirty to forty minutes.
- Chapter X: Writing and recording podcasts normally is approximately two to three hours per week.
- Music: Practicing trumpet has really recaptured me and I devote forty-five minutes per day (averaging six days a week). I expect that to go up as my stamina increases.
- Coach Training: The formal part of training is coming to an end. Right now, it encompasses approximately seven to eight hours per week.
If my math is correct, that is approximately twenty-seven to twenty-eight hours per week. That leaves me time to attend to some creative writing, reading (I just finished the new Mel Brooks memoir and am reading the Witcher series).
Recently, I’ve also started to explore some potential volunteer projects. In addition, I have plenty of time to see my granddaughters, roast coffee and communicate with friends.
So far so good. I’m not married to any routine and am firmly convinced that when something no longer makes me happy, I am not going to continue. That, my friends, is a huge breakthrough for me!
