Sitting With Myself

By April 17, 2022 No Comments

It’s far from natural for me to just sit. I’m hard-wired to “do.”

Scratching a line through an item on my “to do” list makes me happy. But let’s face it, go-go-go-go is not a great move if I want to work on understanding who I am, what my purpose is and what brings me joy and meaning.

Therefore, I created a “To Be” or a “To Ponder” list.

The list comprises of thoughts and ideas that hit my consciousness, dreams or other areas of awareness that demand my time and attention. Therefore, I’ve been focusing on meditation and time to think, ponder and dream.

It’s about allowing myself the time and space to just be.

And I’ll admit it is not easy for me. It’s a struggle as I feel the tug of the “to do” list weighing on me; the things I need to accomplish or that remain open. Therefore, I am caught in the vortex of push-pull and only when I give myself permission to stop the internal violence do I relinquish the war.

Sitting with myself, while a practice that’s in its infancy, is proving to be very valuable.

What do you do?

Do you struggle?

What suggestions can you offer?

I’m looking forward to your comments.
