Change is one of those topics that brings with it a wide range of experiences.
For some, it’s approached with open arms, welcoming in something new, different and exciting. For others, it means fear, reticence and anxiety.
Powering through change, even welcome change, is a process of assimilation. It can take time, patience and a willingness to accept whatever comes with the new.
By its nature, change represents something new and different that, while expected (in some cases) still puts you in a state of unknowing, discomfort, and, perhaps, a feeling of being untethered. Change, for some, is a deep well of despair, while for others it’s a muddy puddle to trudge through.
Regardless of how you experience change, there’s a price to pay for the knowledge.
When confronting change, especially big ones, start with recalling other changes you’ve experienced and focus on the learning. Consider who you were before and who you became on the other side.
I wish to use change as a catalyst for growth, self-knowledge and a builder of my ability to roll with whatever life hands me.
For those who are following along with my writing, you’ll know that I have yet to master change with calm grace. I aspire to handle change with greater equanimity. I acknowledge that I am a work in progress and am willing (not anxious) to pay the price of growth.
