I have no idea what brought back the recollection of being a youngster trekking through the nearby woods.
But I remember walking home with the insistent pangs of burrs sticking to my socks, pants, and shirt. As much as I tried to remove them, another sharp zap would tell me that I hadn’t found them all. Yet each prickly piece I plucked off reminded me of the fun of the day—the freedom I enjoyed walking over fallen logs, sitting by the nearby stream, and exploring the area.
As the year wanes and we enter 2023, I wish you all a burr. I hope it will serve as a reminder:
- To live your best life
- To grace others with your love and care
- To allow yourself to be enjoy the love and care of others
- To focus on self-care and health
- To share your wisdom and experience
- To help make the world better
- To appreciate all you’ve accomplished
- To hold gratitude in your hearts
- To let go of grudges and senseless negative feelings
- To enjoy the ability to “be” rather than to “do”
- To express yourself fully with courage
- To continue to learn and grow
- To find meaning and joy in small things
- To be at peace with yourself
