Learning To Say No

By July 28, 2023 No Comments

We’re in Vienna today, having spent the past few days in Budapest and Bratislava. During our
time in Budapest, we embarked on an intense hike that involved climbing nearly 400 steps up
Castle Hill on the Buda side. The entire hike covered a little over six miles, and the temperature
soared into the high 80s. While it was a wonderful experience, the aftermath left us with a rather
sore hip and leg.

After visiting the old town in Vienna this morning, we returned to the ship for lunch and some
rest. The afternoon’s plan involves a visit to Schonbrunn Palace, followed by a Mozart and
Strauss concert tonight. However, my hip is still barking and I decided to pass on the afternoon
excursion. While I am sure the palace is something spectacular to see, I am taking the
afternoon off to relax in advance of the concert tonight.

To be honest, I wrestled with my decision as I want to experience as much as possible. Despite
knowing I could have ‘powered’ through the afternoon, I decided to pass on the excursion. I am
situated in the lounge with a coffee and a book. Saying ‘no’ was the right idea.

Do you struggle with “no”?
