I try desperately to avoid turning my posts to politics or global events to maintain the focus on the issues of our collective transitions into our next chapter. However, given the current situation in the Middle East, I feel compelled to shift to share my thoughts.
The recent act of barbarism and hate by the terrorist group Hamas is beyond imagination, in fact, beyond the bounds of human or even animal behavior. The slaughter and abduction of innocent lives cannot be in any way subject to rational thought or, worse, “whataboutisms”. It is simply unjustifiable in any framework unless, of course, your mind is so twisted by antisemitic hate.
Now is the precise time to stand up for Israel and their right to exist. The Palestinian issue is not going away, and it is past time for Arab nations to help solve that problem and use their vast resources to come to their aid and provide education, health services, and safety for their people. They have used them as pawns long enough.
There are no governments on the planet where fault cannot be found, but interestingly enough (sadly enough), Israel is a focal point of criticism and blame. We must stand up together to speak out against the horror and atrocities Hamas has perpetuated on their innocent victims.
Those of our generation grew up in the shadows of the Holocaust. We cannot remain silent, we cannot make excuses, we cannot ignore the root causes of historical hate aimed at the Jewish people. Let us remember that these twisted hate groups want the extinction of all who do not follow their way of thinking. Who’s next?
