I’ve heard too many men tell me they don’t have a meaningful purpose in their lives at this stage.
The truth is, your purpose probably isn’t hanging from a tree like ripe fruit, waiting to be picked. Finding purpose is a process of exploration—trying new things, sorting through options, weeding out what doesn’t fit, investigating, researching, and staying open-minded.
It reminds me of the stories I’ve read of the California Gold Rush where these intrepid fortune seekers would devote endless hours to panning rivers for gold, enduring back-breaking failures while searching for tiny flakes of treasure.
Finding purpose doesn’t need to be back-breaking or grueling, but failure on the path to success is normal. Maybe your purpose is a needle in the proverbial haystack, but I can guarantee you won’t find it sitting in front of the TV.
