My wife and I spent the last week of August with our daughter and two of our granddaughters. Yesterday, I spent two hours in the pool with the younger of the two girls. We splashed, laughed, floated, and had a great time. She’s not water-safe and wears a floaty vest. My daughter mentioned that she plans to get her swim lessons soon, so I took it upon myself to get her started on the right foot.
I showed her how to put her face in the water and blow bubbles. She watched as I did this a few times, laughing as she popped the bubbles I made. After a few minutes, she put her face in and blew out, creating her own eruption of bubbles. She pumped her arm in the air in victory, and we high-fived and hugged it out!
Later that afternoon, she told her mother about her new ability with a huge smile on her face: “Papa showed me how to put my face in the water and blow bubbles!”
A bit of my legacy was created today….and for me, that’s what matters.
