Looking Back, Looking Forward

By January 13, 2025 No Comments

First of all, I’ll admit I am NOT a New Year’s resolution guy. I don’t judge if you are—more power to you!

But I’m definitely on Team Reflection. It’s always been important for me to look back and assess what I did well (or at least what wasn’t completely FUBAR) and identify changes, modifications, or additions I need to try moving forward.

As I reflect on 2024, I notice an old habit that still lingers. I continue to be drawn to and say yes to too many things that, frankly, stress me out a bit. I haven’t yet found that sweet spot of balance—the one that, as the Three Bears might put it, is not too hot and not too cold, not too hard and not too soft. It confounds me, as it always has.

I’m not quite ready (yet) to give something up, even though I recognize the frustration of sometimes feeling like I have too much on my plate. This is one I’m still working through.

As I look ahead to next year, I am committed to cultivating and nurturing a stronger circle of friends in my life. I’m not entirely sure what that will look like yet, but it’s important to me. Additionally, I envision spending more time practicing yoga—and perhaps even exploring Tai Chi—to enhance my body’s strength and flexibility while fostering a sense of inner calm.

How about you? What are you looking forward to? What changes will you try? How will next year be different for you?
