A gift of time

Here we are in some phase of the global pandemic. The orders are clear: stay home, stay safe.

While I am venturing out to the office for very brief stints (everyone else is working remotely), I am being a responsible man. A friend of mine I spoke with said, that men have a very short runway for being “good” before we rebel. But all in all, I’m being good.

So, I am left with time. Time to read, think, walk, exercise, clean up messes (the attic is calling my name like a siren’s song). I asked myself where else can I put my attention while I am staying out of trouble?

Here’s my list:

Finish gathering my documents for the accountant.

Practice guitar.

Learn music theory (I bought a course on Udemy).

Find an app to learn a language (I am wrestling between Spanish or French).

Read “The Count of Monte Cristo”.

Review old documents that need shredding.

Finish the first draft of my novel.

Write more articles for future publication.

Take an on-line algebra course.

My last one needs a little context: I was a horrible math student (we’re talking algebra, etc.). Sitting in my 8th grade algebra class, I asked the teacher (who was really a guidance counselor, not a math teacher) how it was possible that X could equal 9 and -7? Her response: it just is! So I clicked off any interest in math and focused on music instead.

Now, for some reason I have a desire to understand this mystical language that escaped me so many years ago.

What’s on your list?
