A perfect gift

By September 17, 2020 No Comments

Our society is based on the accumulation of “things”, “stuff”, “objects”, “possessions”, that in the end are nothing more than dust collectors or momentary shots of endorphins that make you feel good.

I have found that the best gift is the gift of listening to another person. I don’t mean a verbal exchange, debate or discussion of the latest episode of Tiger King. I mean an internal commitment to actually hear what someone else is saying and connecting with their thoughts, ideas, emotions, concerns and pain—without the need to fix, judge or deflect.

When was the last time you actually felt heard? Try and recall it and how you felt.

When was the last time you actually listened to someone else deeply and intently? It is a perfect gift to give and receive and it costs nothing, collects no dust, and improves the world.

Cheers,

Michael
