Recently, we spent a long weekend in the Berkshires. Despite the rainy weather, the sight of leaves turning golden, orange, and flame yellow was a soothing and miraculous spectacle. The air was clean and crisp, and I felt gratitude at witnessing yet another annual cycle of nature’s transition.
This experience stood in stark contrast to the grim backdrop of the massacres in Israel, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the gang of Republicans grinding any semblance of legislation to a halt.
It reminded me that nature, in all its wildness, upheaval, and perils, remains perfect, while humanity steeps itself in greed, power, dominance, and hate. What choices can we make to contribute to a better world for future generations?
It begins with the decision to be kinder and more thoughtful, and to intentionally act in ways that bring us together. We all have a role to play in this; there are no innocent bystanders in making our world better.
