I live with the sound of a ticking clock in my head.
As far back as I can remember I’ve lived with a sense of urgency.
I remember my frustration at not being able to throw a curveball and working on it over and over until I was able to nudge a slight bend.
And working on a difficult piece of music and not getting the fingerings and articulation correct. I kept at it until I could please my very demanding teacher. The same story goes on throughout my work life.
As I look out on the horizon of my next chapter, I doubt the clock’s demanding ‘tick-tick-tick’ will diminish. But I hope that my passions, interests and curiosities will push me in directions that have a wider impact on my community. To be completely honest, I have no idea what it will look like—I just know it’s out there.
What about you? Do you feel a sense of urgency to be of service? Have you found small ways of making a difference?
Let’s share some ideas. If you sign up for the Chapter X Slack Space here , we can begin to offer ideas, suggestions or pose a question.
The key here is action. Tick-tick-tick.
