As you know, I talk a lot about finding meaning, purpose, and finding your passion in this chapter of life. I have been reading Mind Full to Mindful: Zen Wisdom from a Monk’s Bowl by Om Swami.
In it, he talks about the idea of contentment vs. passion. It gave me pause, especially as I consider myself a passionate person. Om Swami writes:
“Zen says, just let me be in the present moment, that even breathing is a blessing. If I can’t be happy with what I have now, I can never be happy with whatever I may have in the future.”
OK, a lot to digest and process, considering our training as living at a breakneck pace. We’re not wired this way in our society, but honestly, it seems to me that we are the authors of our own misery or contentment.
What do you think?
