Big Lies

By March 7, 2021 No Comments

The “big lie” is a propaganda technique employed to set or shift people’s thinking in a specific way. We’ve seen it in historical context, to shattering effect, and we’ve experienced it in our political arena. Need I say more?

But the big lie that’s been employed in our society against older people has distorted facts—and shifted mindsets in a way that impacts us without question.

Age discrimination is rampant, blatant, and caused by these big lies.

For example:

  • If you’re no longer working-you are no longer useful.
  • Older people have little value (look at advertising; maybe other than pharmaceuticals, it’s aimed at young people).
  • Retirement is a time to do nothing (I guess it’s a choice…but BORING!!).
  • Those in the last period of life are selfish.

These statements are patently false, but unfortunately pervasive. We are at a stage in life where our experience, wisdom, and abilities make us all the more necessary to guide our children (and the younger generations) with open minds and open hearts.

It’s our time to explore, share and help lead.

Don’t buy into the BIG LIES!
