Books that Leave a Mark

By April 11, 2021 No Comments

I’m a lover of books. Making the transition from paper to digital has a challenge and only happened because my wife threatened me…or at least threatened to make the boxes and piles disappear when I wasn’t looking.

I cannot even estimate the number of books I’ve read, but I can tell you that there have been so many books that have left a lasting impression on me; both fiction, non-fiction and biography. I love great writing and I love interesting books and stories that I can hold onto and synthesize.

I am a fan of Mark Twain, Somerset Maugham, Leon Uris, Ken Follet, Harlan Coben and Saul Bellow.

I hungrily tore into Walter Isaacson’s biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Leonardo DaVinci, as well as David McCullough’s John Adams and Truman.

I’ve gotten lost in the works of Joseph Epstein’s and the works of Michael Chabon and John LeCarre’. I also admit to reading Philip Roth (when my emotional strength is especially high).

Each author has left a lasting impression.

What books/authors have made a difference to you—and why?
