I’m looking down the barrel of a new year. Who knows, it could be my last. While I don’t expect it to be, there’s no way to know. I’m pretty healthy, but there are no guarantees. I feel like my journey has more twists and turns to it before it’s over. But that might be wishful thinking. So, it’s important for me to focus on some fundamental ideas as the calendar turns.
- Gratitude is one of those topics that we talk about, but sometimes fall short on embracing and actually practicing it. I resolve to be more grateful for life, family, friends, and the endless possibilities that lay ahead. I resolve to be grateful for the difficulties I’ve experienced and how it has molded me into a better person.
- Acceptance of all the flaws. Yes, we all have them. I resolve to try and be less self-critical. As I rapidly approach my 70th birthday, I probably have beaten myself up enough.
- Figure out the BE. I have the DO down pat; I have my black belt in getting stuff done, but I am still in a novice stage of finding comfort in just ‘being’. I resolve to embrace the concept and practice through meditation and making time to just be.
I could literally fill pages with resolutions and desires for the coming year. But I’ll stop here with these three biggies.
How about you? Do you make resolutions? Share if you would.
