This past Thanksgiving was lovely. Both of our children and grandchildren were with us. Not to mention, our daughter-in-law is expecting a baby in February, which gives us three granddaughters.
Our lives are overflowing with blessings. This year, our celebration was significantly smaller than most years (pre-COVID), but the intimacy of our gathering was filled with laughter and love.
But it is impossible to celebrate without acknowledging others:
Those who suffer from food insecurity.
Those who are alone.
Those who are dealing with physical and mental illness.
Those who are unemployed.
Those without adequate shelter.
Those who are first responders: police, fire and essential workers.
Those who are health care workers.
Those who are victims of abuse, racism and other forms of prejudice.
Those who serve in our armed forces.
I hope I have not left out those who need our support, care and love.
We cannot truly enjoy the light, unless we address the darkness.
