Don’t Believe Your Lying Thoughts

One of the greatest challenges in Chapter X is stepping out of your comfort zone to try new things. While your initial thought might be excitement and enthusiasm, doubt often creeps in soon after.

This won’t be interesting.
I don’t know anyone.
I’ll look like a fool.
I won’t be able to do it.
It will be boring.

Feel free to add your own negative thoughts to the list (and share them). But what’s really happening is that a part of your brain is trying to keep you SAFE. Anything outside your comfort zone sets off a blaring signal: DANGER.

Instead of listening to the small part of your brain that’s wired for survival (think caveman days and man-eating animals), tune into your body and its wisdom. The real answers lie there—in your heart, your gut, or wherever you feel your deeper truth.
