One of the great joys of my life has been in the role of parent and any of you who have had this experience knows well, it is not the easiest job in the world. I have two children, a daughter and a son who are both adults, independent and now both are parents.
My daughter is the mother of two girls; one is 5 ½ the other almost 1 ½ . The latter was a micro-preemie, arriving into the world very early and has battled her way from 1lb 7oz to a round 20 lb-er. They are both wonderful and fun.
Last week, our son and daughter-in-law brought into the world another granddaughter. She is thriving and getting used to the world. It’s such a blessing.
My son, who moved to Chicago last year, is now out of the scope of our ability to provide hands-on help and that’s hard on them and us. So for right now, FaceTime and pictures have to suffice.
I received several pictures of him holding his daughter and it hit me like a punch in the nose, my son is now a father and the awesome responsibilities and blessings that are now ahead of him.
My baby is now a daddy… and my tears flowed freely.
