Mask-wearing Fatigue

These terms trip off the tongue to describe the weariness involved in dealing with the current state of the world.

The mental drain coming from stress creates levels of ill-health and emotional dissatisfaction. Yeah, I know, it feels awful.

To combat fatigue, you need to recognize the pain points and build a plan to buffer the impact against your brain and body.

Here are a few ideas to help combat the effects:

  1. Take a media break. Detox your brain by purposefully staying away from the news.
  2. Engage in physical activities that will help change your internal chemistry by promoting release of endorphins.
  3. Listen to music.
  4. Spend time in nature.
  5. Learn a language.
  6. Read books that are inspiring, helpful and enriching. Or read something that’s just fun and super entertaining. AVOID books about politics and global pandemics
  7. Talk to a friend on the phone or better yet, outside (at a safe distance).
  8. Get a massage or other bodywork if you can find a safe practitioner that adheres to all protocols.
  9. Stay away from foods that cause inflammation in your system (sugar, refined and processed foods, alcohol).

Fatigue can drain you. So finding ways to regroup, realign and rebuild your energy is really important.
