Those who’ve been reading these pieces for a while know that Thanksgiving is my favorite
holiday. I will be blessed to have both children and my three granddaughters around the table
this year. This warms my heart to the nth degree.
In addition, there will also be dear friends gracing us with their presence, which makes me
happy beyond words. I look at Thanksgiving as a pause (amidst the insanity of cooking,
cleaning, and setting up) to count all my blessings.
Sure, the world’s on fire. There is hate, intolerance, and mayhem on all sides. But I hope you
can join me in escaping into a mindset of gratitude. After all, we’re still here, we’re still vibrant,
and we’re still focused on living with passion, purpose, and meaning.
This is an opportunity to focus on acts of kindness, understanding, and generosity—whether
through financial means or in spirit—in healing the world in whatever way you can. As I see it,
our job is to act with compassion, caring, kindness, and wisdom in helping others. It’s to learn, grow, find purpose, and develop skills or understanding. Sometimes, simply listening from the heart or offering encouragement or information is all that’s needed to help.
I have always been a firm believer in the idea that our responsibility is to leave this world better
than we found it. I hope you will embrace this idea as you walk your path in this chapter.
Lastly, I am grateful to you all for your words of encouragement, your participation, and your
willingness to bring others to our Chapter X community of men.
Wishing you and those in your life a wonderful Thanksgiving!
