I read an article recently where a young person was asking a senior for advice on life. You know, the kind of question that elicited the elder’s thoughts on aging. The answer was both surprising and spot-on. The essence of the reply was, “I never expected to reach this age so soon.” It actually made me laugh at the elegance and pure simplicity.
When I think back to my youth, I remember how slowly the days, weeks and months progressed—summer seemed to go on forever. Now, years leap by in an eyeblink. WTF!
There’s no way to slam on the brakes or shift gears into reverse (if only, huh?), but we can practice gratitude for the gifts bestowed, appreciate the time we have, try and make a positive difference and leave this world, hopefully, a little better.
Tick tock!
