Ok, so I’ve co-opted a biblical quote—sue me. But Rabbi Hillel’s quote goes deeper and perhaps to the heart of Chapter X:
“If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? And if not now, when?”
Rabbi Hillel
During this time in our lives, we have the opportunity, and perhaps even the responsibility, to lean into this quote. It speaks to me of generativity, of giving to others, of action, of community, and of the urgency of directing our thoughts and deeds accordingly.
We get to choose our missions, our communities, and our heart-centered actions. All we have to do is decide where to aim our hearts, minds, and bodies.
