Our little miracle baby who came into the world very early at 1lb, 7oz. is now a robust 20-pounder. My granddaughter turned one back in October, nearly 3 months before her expected arrival.
I watch her crawling around the house, picking up toys, blankets and stuffed animals.
She examines everything and dutifully shoves it into her mouth. She’s testing touch, taste, sight, smell. She buries her face into a fluffy blanket and comes out smiling. She points to the light and declares her version of the word. She tries to open drawers and cabinets. She knows only curiosity for a world that is a mystery.
She’s learning.
Soon, I will turn 68 and I’m still learning. Sometimes, I need a reminder of its importance; to open my eyes to the mysteries of this next chapter.
