I receive a good deal of questions from members of the community…so here are a few FAQs.
Q: Why is the transition into Chapter X so challenging?
A: No one is “trained” for this transition. After a lifetime of preparing for and focusing on a career, there is no experience on which to rely; it’s trial and error.
Q: Where should I start?
A: Start with an assessment of your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the various aspects of your life. For example: Health, Finances, Relationships, Home, Learning, Inner Growth (spiritual), etc. What’s working and what could be improved upon? Next, look back at your life experiences and record your successes and failures, kind of your life lessons. Start there.
Q: Is Coaching helpful in working through the tough spots?
A: Yes, coaching can be very helpful, especially in helping to identify the sticking points and creating focus.
Q: Is there ONE big thing that you think is key to a successful transition?
A: As a matter of fact, yes. I’m glad you asked. Your willingness to be vulnerable and ask for help when things aren’t working. Whether it’s discussing with your spouse/partner, confiding in a close friend, seeking guidance from a coach or working with a therapist…being ok with your “weakness” is KEY!
