I’ve been spending a week with my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters. My wife and I are taking nice long walks together, enjoying the sunshine and the relaxed atmosphere of a beach town.
Of course, there are the inevitable stops in local shops, as the businesses unveil their end-of-season sales. I’m forever in search of the ‘perfect’ hat for me and try on every style available. Yet I always have the same reaction to each one….. ”yuck!”
The truth is I just look stupid in hats. I can pull off a baseball cap, but the fedoras, straw hats, side panels, sun hats and bucket hats all scream, “Hard stop. No….just NO!” I watch other men sporting their headgear with great aplomb. They look awesome and I, well, I just pull it off my head and defer back to my comfy, if odd-looking, baseball cap.
I think it’s like Chapter X. We need to try things on. We need to explore opportunities, possibilities, and ideas that might seem not right for us, but we can’t really know until we try them out.
Your style is yours.
Your journey is yours—go explore.
But for goodness sake, don’t walk past opportunities to try new things. After all, you never know whether it’s the perfect fit for you.
