As drivers, we’re told to avoid potholes on the road. While this is no easy task in New Jersey, I am starting to see this advice in another light….
I remember my parting words to my daughter when she went off to college. “Don’t make fatal mistakes!” I told her small mistakes are ok. There’s a lot of knowledge to be gained from making mistakes or finding yourself in a pothole.
You can deeply explore your mindset, resiliency, and ability to work through—and out of—unfavorable situations. These boo-boos are ripe territory for discovering what DOES work for you. Kind of like the Thomas Edison approach of uncovering all the ways of not inventing the light bulb.
Embrace the pothole. Explore the mistakes; they will inform you of what to avoid or what doesn’t work for you. This allows you a clearer vision of what might be more aligned with who you are and what you truly want.
Go forth and make mistakes…just avoid the fatal ones please!
