At our recent Zoom get-together (yes, you are invited to the next one), one of the men shared that he grew up in an area of the country where hunting was a big part of the culture.
As he sinks into his Chapter X, he is questioning whether this activity still feels right to him. Wow! I vote for him to be awarded “Mr. Self-Aware” for the month, or maybe the year.
It is so important to question over and over the things that are normal to us:
Where did our beliefs come from?
Is it still right for me?
Why am I aligned with this behavior or belief?
These questions, applied vigorously to our fixed operating systems, are vitally important in designing what is truly important to us, what we believe and what we want in our lives going forward.
It makes perfect sense to me. Living on autopilot, especially when we have the opportunity to have our hands on the controls, is a waste of what I call a “wisdom building” opportunity.
How many times in your life have you heard someone say something like, “that’s the way we’ve always done it”? As a business owner, that phrase always made me cringe. In Chapter X, we get to reestablish our belief systems—and align them with values we hold dear.
Don’t let the opportunity slip away. Question everything!
