Some people I know begin a novel by reading the last page—which always confuses me.
If you know the ending, why bother reading the book?
As an avid reader, I would never read the end first. I want to see how the author tells the story, builds the characters and takes him or her through challenges and growth, brings the action to peaks throughout the telling and finally ends the story in surprise or ties up the action in a neat little package.
It’s a joy when a writer can bring out evocative responses in their reader!
In our life, we already know how the story ends. The question is how you, the author and main character, will show up.
What story do you wish to tell?
How will you, as the main character, meet the challenges?
Will you be the antagonist or protagonist?
Are you the hero?
What theme are you bringing with you from the early chapters to the end and will you show character growth and resilience?
The proverbial pen is in your hand.
