I’ve been enjoying a lovely week at the beach with my family. My three granddaughters are exuberant and active, which has meant lots of pool time with them. As the week winds down, I find myself holding onto the hope and expectation that we’ll all be together again for Thanksgiving. I’ve also loved watching my kids in their roles as parents, navigating the daily challenges of shepherding their children through the day.
Evenings usher in a beautiful sunset over the lagoon where we’re staying. There’s something spectacular about watching the sun sink from the sky and rest on the rooftop of the house to the west.
Sunsets are endings of magical moments and the gifts of each days’ possibilities. In Chapter X, as in life, endings are inevitable. And it is worthwhile to reflect on the gifts each day brings. We never know when the last sunset will truly be the last.
Is there any better use of our time than devoting it to joyful pursuits that align with our values? Personally, I don’t think so.
