Sisyphus Strikes Again

By September 17, 2024 No Comments

If you’re not familiar with the myth of Sisyphus, he was the king of Corinth who was punished by Hades for cheating death. His punishment was to push a boulder up a mountain for eternity.

Well, after the last seven weeks of dealing with a strange malady that has left me completely fatigued, brain-fogged, and with a black belt in general malaise, I am on a timeline to restart playing with the adult big band in early October.

So, like Sisyphus, I must start at the bottom of the mountain and begin pushing to regain my stamina. To make matters even more challenging, I have oral surgery the first week of September (which will delay practicing for another week).

It’s a mind game, as well as a physical challenge. To get back into form, hours of patient, deliberate practice await me. Patience has never been one of my strong suits, but stubbornness certainly is.
