Squirrely Behavior

By December 2, 2025 No Comments

This autumn seems to have stirred up the local squirrel population. I’ve noticed them as I walk through the neighborhood, doing their squirrel thing of gathering food before winter. They seem far busier than in previous years.

One thing is abundantly clear: they go about their business with purpose. I watch through my den window as they dash across the lawn, through the bushes, and into the flower beds. They chase away any competition that encroaches on their claimed territory.

There’s something to learn from the determination they bring to their purpose. They’re fighting the clock they carry in their cells. Do you have that same determination in living with purpose? Are you allowing the misconception that “purpose” has to be anything other than what lights you up, what interests you, and what you’re willing to explore?

The clock is ticking. Isn’t it better to try something new, even if you don’t end up enjoying it, than to sit on the couch doing nothing?

Examine the stories you tell yourself when you consider exploring something new. Ask what’s stopping you from taking that step forward. Remember the squirrels and their indomitable drive to fulfill their purpose.
