As I have mentioned, I am trying my hand at writing short stories. After finishing one, I submitted it to publications in hopes of sharing it with the world. The other day, I received my first rejection letter! Surprisingly, it was a cause for celebration.
Wait! What? Did I just say that rejection is a cause for celebration?
Yes, indeed, I see it as a success!
You might wonder, why do I view it as a success when it’s clearly a failure?
Well, let me explain…
My goal was to write a piece for publication, and that has been accomplished. Although the publisher didn’t accept the story, I received some great comments on how to make it better. That’s clearly another success.
I understand that all writers face rejection, especially in the beginning of their journey. As I am clearly at the beginning of my journey, I feel hopeful, encouraged, and energized to keep going.
