There’s nothing that raises my hackles more than people who peddle quick fixes, simplistic answers and secret solutions. (That is, if I knew what a hackle was and if I even had them.)
Yes, I understand these offers, books and courses that promise to unravel all your misery and send you on the path to nirvana are sales hooks and marketing ploys… I get that. The reality is while these solutions may be simple and fixes may seem easy to some, they often provide false hope and frustration and contribute to the overall misery for many.
Think of it this way: if you expect a straightforward fix to a problem and it doesn’t pan out as expected, it’s all too easy to spiral into self-doubt and feelings of failure. In reality, what we should do is continually seek out the answers to our particular issues and work through them to a conclusion.
Truthfully, we must continue to search for the keys to our particular issues and work them through to a conclusion. Instead of being mired in misery, it’s more productive to shift your thinking towards something like, “Hey, that was interesting, but it wasn’t right for me.”
I say explore, experiment, test, engage, ponder and excavate to discover the solutions that truly resonate with you. There’s rarely a “quick fix” or secret solution that miraculously transforms your life for the better. Life is complicated and often messy, just like the answers to our big questions.
