I love my smartwatch.
Well, not really. Perhaps love is too strong a word.
I love all the things it can do. Although, I haven’t scratched the surface of all the cool possibilities.
I love the fact that it reminds me to breathe, but it annoys the hell out of me that I actually need the reminder.
I love the feature that allows me to answer the phone without the phone. Although, it seems to only ring when I am in the middle of something.
I love it when I close all my rings of movement, exercise and standing; but feel disappointed when I don’t.
I have trouble distinguishing the “tool” aspect of the watch from a dependence of it on my wrist.
My wife asked me the other day if I have forsaken the watches in my drawers for this marvel of technology. I hesitantly said that I have not, although a day without tracking fills me with a small terror.
The fact is, we have at our disposal so many ways to enhance our lives, so many tools that can make our life better or overwhelm us to gridlock.
I think it’s fair to say that the level of complexity just increases with ever-developing technology. It’s a good thing until it isn’t.
