Venturing beyond your comfort zone

Here we are in the midst of the ‘situation’ and I am continuing to try new things.

I first tried my hand at assembling stuff—a rower, weight bench and finally a composter. Then I decided that what’s the good of composter if there’s no garden?

So my next project was to create a garden and with the help of my landscaper, I now have a beautifully framed and critter-proof enclosure. My next challenge was to start the seeds to prepare for planting, as it’s still pretty chilly here.

I bought peat pots, a variety of vegetable seeds and something called compressed soil. I set up my peat pots, marked them with the vegetable to be planted and placed a seed or two in each. Covering each pot with a little more soil, I proceeded to water the pots.

Why didn’t anyone tell me that COMPRESSED soil actually meant that water will make it expand EXPONENTIALLY?  Needless to say, it’s pretty much a big mess.

But, I will say that learning can be hilarious!
