As if navigating through Chapter X isn’t challenging enough, what do you say when confronted with the question:
“What do you do?”
Saying, “I’m retired,” doesn’t seem to mean anything.
Saying, “I used to be a…” doesn’t feel right, either.
While the question is ‘normal,’ it’s a terrible question because it is confining and puts you into a neat little category. I know it’s a standard question, and I know it’s often used during an uncomfortable moment when meeting someone new.
My answer is simple, “I am exploring life in many aspects after my career.”
