From our earliest existence, we face challenges that require us to grow beyond our current state of being. It’s no different in Chapter X. Of course, after devoting decades to honing and improving your skill sets, this shift can feel impossibly difficult. If you’re in the muck and mire of stuckness, it’s time to lean into some big questions.
What am I feeling?
Start by naming what’s present. Identify and state the problem or quandary. For example: I am feeling stuck. I am feeling sad. I am feeling lost.
What do I want?
To move forward, define what you want. Direction creates momentum. For example: I want to feel happier. I want to live a more vibrant life. I want to do something different.
What do I need to do to make the shift?
Action turns insight into change. Choose a few concrete steps. For example: I will spend more time with people I love. I will devote energy and focus to _____. I will create a more vibrant social life by joining _____.
It’s not unusual to be in a place of “stuckness.” I’m pretty confident you’ve been in that place many times in your past and, somehow, you figured out how to move forward. My guess is that you identified how you felt, knew what you wanted, and created an action list.
You’ve got this!
