When the Train Comes Off the Tracks

By July 1, 2023 No Comments

Change is hard.

Transitions, for the most part, suck.

After a lifetime of staying on the tracks, the derailment of the next chapter is messy (and, for some, disastrous).

We are simply unprepared to forge a new path, or so it feels. However, the truth is we have spent a lifetime preparing for it. Consider this: while the shift from your career to something else is different, so were all the changes and transitions that came before, starting from childhood and onwards.

If you’re struggling with it, try this…take a moment to jot down a list of the various transitions you’ve encountered from your earliest memories until today. (If you struggle to come up with at least twenty, we need to talk!)

Sometimes, we just need to reframe our thinking. Instead of seeing this transition as impossibly difficult, consider the multitude of significant changes you’ve already navigated in the past. You can plainly see that you’ve successfully gone through lots and lots of big changes before.

You got this! It’s time to put your train on a different set of tracks…one that can take you in new and wonderful directions.
